In cycling-mad Flanders, 15-year-old Anna Meeusen chases victories on the road and on the track. But as her talent
draws attention, she must navigate the invisible race between success and self-preservation - under the watchful eyes
of her ambitious father, her protective mother, and a culture that glorifies winners.
Look Mom, No Hands! is a coming-of-age story set in the heart of Belgian cycling culture. Over one pivotal year, we
follow Anna Meeusen as she moves from local prodigy to a high-performance athlete at Topsportschool Gent. What
seems like a classic sports documentary becomes a deeper reflection on identity, family dynamics, and societal
expectations.
The film juxtaposes Anna's victories with intimate family moments, exploring how ambition, love, and fear coexist in a household where cycling dominates everything. Through immersive observation and sharp emotional contrasts, the documentary asks: who do we become when we are constantly being watched - and who are we when no one is looking?
